A good way to save on fresh foods is to watch the different supermarket ads and see what's on sale. You then choose the best bang for your buck and overall, it will be cheaper than thinking of it as always expensive if you only buy apples. Here, apples are usually 99 cents to 2.49 a pound. However, by watching sales, I can get some for 25 cents or 50 cents one week. Same for oranges. Love when strawberry cartons are only 99 cents.

You can also do gardening, even if in an urban area. You can try local resources like Freecycle and Craigslist to get your supplies for cheap or free. You can participate in a community garden. There are so many ways to make good food cheaper.

What a great article! If you haven't seen the movie Food Inc, oh you simply must check it out! The value of this food in mass production/distribution is very low. unhealthy!

Good food does cost more than fast food. The best way to have more money for good food, and at the same time lose a few pounds, is to carry around a small note-book. Every time that you do not eat something on the spur of the moment; jot down how much money that you saved, and then later on use that money to purchase healthy food. Being healthy is a lifestyle, not a diet. There are many good tips on how to achieve permanent weight loss; none of them includes gimmicks, diets, or diet pills. To assist with weight control; keep a daily food journal and every time the urge to snack is felt, first drink a large glass of clear water. The major reason so many people in America are overweight is because we eat too much for comfort! It does not hurt to treat ourselves with something special once in a while, what is necessary is that we limit our portions and do not overeat! It is also necessary to keep our body properly hydrated, so drink a full glass of water with each meal or snack. Being overweight ******, but after reading a book, I lost 85 pounds! Words can not express how good I feel! This is a comment which I recently received about the book Lose Weight Using Four Easy Steps

eating organic, and whole foods, is not always as easy at looks. It is expensive as you say. I have a couple of recipes actually on my blog that help with this type of stuff. Eat healthy for a decent price.
