The neighborhoods people live in can either inspire or discourage their residents from exercising and keeping physically active, new research suggests. Residents of neighborhoods with higher levels of poverty, lower education, and more female-headed families are less likely than others to exercise. Yet, it’s not simply income level that’s the determining factor, it’s the actual surroundings, researchers say.
