in cut your calories naturally

I came across an article by the Los Angeles Times about weight loss and healthy lifestyle. A study of the National Weight Control Registry concluded that 98 percent of the people losing great amounts of body fat kept it off by dilligently pursuing a lifestyle that includes a healthy diet and rigorous exercise on regular basis. Many people are familiar with the frustration that Linda, in the following excerpt, is experiencing. Still, I think Linda is on the right path. Now she just needs to pin point things like health issues, 10% sweets – how much that converts into daily caloric intake, the source of it, and perhaps in trying to lower her calories after 7 pm. Do you have any ideas of how Linda can help herself?

For me eating meals after 7pm is holding me up. I try to do all the other things like healthy eating habits and regular exercise. I walk about 4 miles 4 days a week with weights in my hand. I cut out fast food completely and reduced my sweet intake to about 10% (juices and candy) from a high 25%. I use virgin olive oil instead of other oils, I enjoy a healthy breakfast made up of oat meal and fruits only. Still I am weighing a high 190LBS. at 5″11. I would rather be a 160LBS. I have been told to run instead of walk, but I don’t have the stamina to keep running for that long. What should I do? Help!!

For me, not eating after 7 p.m. works fine. Breakfast is also necessary – and since the body metabolism is more active during the first part of the day, I let myself eat more food or even sweets in the morning than in the evening. Works great!

You don’t have to run the entire four miles right away. Just try alternating between walking and jogging at first, before you know it you’ll be running the entire four miles in no time. Also, remember that when you start exercising you may gain weight at first because muscle is heavier than fat, so you’re probably doing better than you think. Oh, and one more thing, the extra muscle will boost your metabolism, so… even when you’re not exercising you will be burning extra calories. Also, after 7pm, try cutting your portions. Keep up the good work!

For me the key to keeping fit is portion control, I just can’t give up all the good foods in life. That’s why I run’ 3 to 4 times a week. I haven’t found any other form of exercise that works like running.
