Leek Broth Recipe To The Rescue: A 2 Day Cleanse Diet For Weight Loss
I always wanted to find out “Why French Women Don’t Get Fat” and am glad for finally reading Mireille Guiliano’s delightfully written insight on French culture, expertise on seasonally cooking, recipes such as the following Leek Broth Recipe, and yes of eating rituals that don’t seem to die for the French as those are passed down from past generations to ours.
Now that we are celebrating the Holidays with Family and Friends, we are actually experiencing French eating habits, likely to serve lots of different foods like healthy poultry, soups and salads, wholesome pies, and fresh nuts cracked to eat immediately or put in cookies. The table is set beautifully, inviting us to sit down together. Then we talk, curiously engaging our senses and truly tasting the food. Perhaps we’re listing to the gentle sounds of the holidays, and simultaneously taking in the delicious scents of the season, like spices such as cinnamon, cloves, or nuts and fruit…
As Mireille describes in her book “Why French Women Don’t Get Fat”, enjoying your food in this special way doesn’t has to be reserved only for the Holidays. We are allowed to splurge, but only in a certain way that goes along with a special mind set. I will write about it in my next post of what she means by setting the table and your mind set. Some of us are doing it already naturally, but if we don’t, lets splurge the old way and start fresh and new January 2013 by cooking this delicious LEEK Broth recipe taken right out her book. It is a wonderful 2 day cleanse diet. A Weight loss Cleanse Diet to start your weight loss healthily and without starving yourself tired. Mireille calls it “jump starting recasting” – a term that pertains to substituting offender foods like for example your every morning doughnut, or your heavily sweetened cup of coffee, with a healthier option following the leek broth recipe cleanse diet.
2 Day Cleanse Diet Leek Broth Recipe:
What you need: 2 pounds fresh produce leeks
What to do:
- Wash off the dirt and sand from leeks, rinse thoroughly
- cut off roots
- cut off dark green parts, leaving just the pale green and white parts of the stalks
- save the dark green parts for making soup stock
- cover the leeks with fresh water and bring to a boil
- Turn down the heat and let simmer for 20 to 30 minutes
- Place leeks in a bowl
- Reserve the broth
Recommended regiment: cook the leeks on Friday and start your cleanse diet Saturday morning throughout Sunday until Dinner in the afternoon. See Sunday Dinner suggestion below.
How To Do Your 2 Day Weight Loss Cleanse Diet:
- Drink 1 cup (8 ounces) of the broth every 2 – 3 hours
- When hungry, eat 1/2 a cup of the leeks
Note: drizzle leeks with little Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Fresh Pressed Lemon Juice, and season sparingly with salt and pepper. If desired, sprinkle with Fresh Parsley.

- 2 vegetables steamed, with a pat of butter or olive oil
- 1 piece of fruit

For the next three month that follow your 2 day cleanse diet, cut down/ or eliminate the foods that are loaded with sugar, find suitable substitutes: For example, instead of drinking 8 ounces of frozen orange juice in the morning, try eating a fresh orange instead.
