What is an Elbow Lever Pushup?
Well, I had no idea until I stumbled upon the following site explaining exactly in words and pictures what this is: The elbow lever is a position where the body is held up horizontal to the ground. But unlike the planche (where there is NO support along the length of the body), the elbow lever uses one’s elbows as a resting and balancing point for the body. This makes the skill much easier than a planche. Visit beastskills to see the man in action
Note: this is not the JANE Fonda Workout they’re talking about…
“I’ve been doing the Fonda workout: the Peter Fonda workout. That’s
where I wake up, take a hit of acid, smoke a joint, and run to my
sister’s house and ask her for money.”

Wow. That is a very cool exercise. What’s amazing in looking at the picture is how much core strength is involved in that position. Not just the abs, which people often mistake for the whole core. Muscles around our spines, in our butts, and backs are just as important in achieving this feat as are the guy’s abs (and of course his fabulous arms!).

Hi Mimi
Yes indeed, his athletic skills (and arms
) are fantastic. Best yet, he offers tutorials on his site for the athletically inclined. They include the one arm pushup, free standing handstand, the one legged squat and more. http://www.beastskills.com/tutorials.htm
Mimi, I also visited your blog and learned about Lotte Berk, and Burr Leonard the founder of the bar method. Awesome!
So, for those who want to sculpt their body, strengthen and lengthen muscles like dancers do, I recommend to check out this post: The (Ballet) Bar Method
