A 1/2 cup of ice cream adds up to about 130 calories.
That’s OK… Even when you are counting calories!
Now, an ice cream diet would be high in fat, and this goodie isn’t on a dieter’s ideal list of food choices. Yet, how can I exclude myself from my child’s ice cream birthday party; It’s a hot summer’s day; I’m at my Mother-In-Law’s and it’s dessert; does being on a dieting have to make me exempt from all of life’s indulgences…?
Well, you could sneak in your own low fat version of strawberry or chocolaty delight, but if you don’t want to, here is what to do to burn off the calories after enjoying that irresistible ice cream:
- Take the kids to the park and walk for 25 minutes
- Ride your bike for 15 minutes.
- Take up jogging for 12 minutes.
- Do a fifteen minute fitness routine.

Actually I am against counting calories. You cab get crazy.
If you count calories you can achieve good results, but you may become calorie maniac and never understand which calories are good or bad.
It is good to get to know your body. After that you wont need to count:)

I have to agree with Miroslav. Especially with getting to know your body.
I’m in heavy favor of controlling food portions rather than calorie counting. To me calorie counting is a very mundane task that many do wrong to begin with.
If you are going to eat sweets, a little light exercise can be a great neutralizer. Great post!
Thank you for your post it is valuable information for me
Lose the calorie mentality. Think portion, though. I am a Mediterranean diet and lifestyle convert. It so works–size 4, 5′5″, low 120s. And I’m 56. I don’t count calories but I’m well aware of ‘em. I eat what I want-whole grains, fresh fruits, veggies, nuts, low-fat dairy, eggs, fish, dark chocolate, olive oil…and swim, swim, did I say swim? Walk the pooches and calories? What are they? Oh, eating 5 mini meals per day works and not eating a meal after 7 pm also works. Water, tea, 1 cup of java in the am is good, too.
