This post on overweight fish won’t bring me much traffic from the search engines… However, should you be searching for overweight fish, then you might find the post title misleading (sorry!). For every one else who is overweight and wants desperately lose body fat, look at the question again: “Can fish be overweight?” You’ll find that this is no silly question indeed!

Here is how to do the “can fish be overweight?” exercise:

All you need is a 5 subject notebook and a smooth writing pen. Ready? Good, title the first tab “What’s Up” – write down a question for example, “Why do I feel fat around my belly? – Then keep on asking questions and write them down fast, for about 5 minutes. Use a timer, and do this exercise 3 times–yest three sessions. Do not answer any of your questions, although your mind will try to do so. Write fast without thinking. When you run dry of questions, take a deep breath and start up again to ask more questions until you know of no more. Again take a deep breath and continue into your third session asking questions. This is not an easy exercise… so please bear with me and ask questions even when you think you can’t think of anymore in your third session. The results will surprise you… take a break until my next post….

Your “why am I overweight?” session might start like this:

Am I born overweight? Why did I gain weight when I was never fat in my twenties? Was my lifestyle different then? Why can’t I keep my hands off fast foods? Why don’t I feel comfortable any longer in my jeans? Why do I hate trying on new clothing in the dressing room? Why do I get depressed every time I see myself in a long view mirror? Why can’t I keep up exercising? Do I need to join a weight loss program in order to keep up with my weight loss resolution? Am I stuck forever being a fatty? My husband loves me just the way I am but why don’t I? How can I get rid of body fat? Why is belly fat not healthy? I’ve lost five pounds but why did I gain it right back? What is metabolism anyways? How can I be overweight when I am on my feet all day?

Keep asking until you fill a paper or two or three… At this point do not answer any of your questions yet put your book away – and read my post tomorrow – best, subscribe to my reader…:)

guess we would burn up a lot of calories with all that writing, but when we go back and look at all the reasons we will find a lot of reasons for all the fat that could be stoped

Yes, we will probably burn a lot of calories just by writing long lists of items that seem to disturb us. The idea is, by writing these questions fast down on paper, we won’t have any time to censor our thinking. Something our brain likes to do. Most often we answer too quickly just to close a subject and be done with it; eliminating the need to dig deeper and the purpose to initiate the actions necessary to reach a desired outcome.

I am sorry to leave you hanging a bit in this post. I am still working on the first part of a self help series for people wanting to lose body fat and keep it off too. It is based on the productive thinking model by Tim Hurson and can be adapted to any conceivable challenge you might face in life – and is a great tool for losing body fat. So stay with me.
