Body building: Protein Drink Recipes

in protein drinks

During strength training, especially body building, your muscles’ energy and strength is pushed to the limits of endurance. After such hard work, the body needs rest. This recovery period allows the muscles to refuel, rebuild, and add mass.

Protein drinks play a vital role in this rest period, as they supply the essential amino acids for peak muscle performance and growth.

If you want to personalize your protein drink or if you want to have better control over what’s in the protein drinks you take, you can make your own blend. Thus you can ensure that you meet your body’s needs for a specific bodybuilding training set, or simply make protein supplements more palatable. There are many flavors that you can blend and mix. Aside from protein, powder mixes usually contain carbohydrates, calcium, riboflavin, and other nutrients.

Below are examples for personalizing your protein drinks:

Milk and Honey

2 tbsp unflavored protein powder
2 tbsp honey
1 ½ cups milk

Mix unflavored protein powder and honey into 1½ cups milk, blend well. Then sprinkle it with nutmeg or cinnamon.

Banana Smoothie

1 cup milk
1 large frozen banana
2 tbsp vanilla flavored protein powder
1 tbsp honey

Simply mix all the ingredients together in a blender and transfer contents into glass.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Shake

1 cup milk
1 scoop chocolate ice cream
2 tablespoons peanut butter
1 egg

Put all the ingredients together in a blender and serve when smooth and creamy.

Man, do I love my protein shake! But I`m sick of all these powders, though. Cool to find and use this kind of recipe now and then. Takes a little longer than regular powder-milk-mixed protein shakes, but tastes way better.

I tried the Banana Smoothie and it was pretty good. Yet I think i mix it up a bit. I could get tired of the banana taste. I find that the hardest thing to do when working out is keeping your muscle feed. Protein seems to work the best for me. I tried a lot of other supplements, but have always come back to tied and trusted protein mix.

Anything to make a shake taste better. I’ve tried the Milk and Honey recipe, and must say that it tastes way better than my normal MRP shake.
