Best Workouts: The Ballet Bar Method and a long, lean, dancer-body look.
It’s the most challenging exercise I’ve ever done… people say. There is plenty of pain but if you keep with it you will eventually go from broad and bulky to that bar exercise look – I like it because it combines stretching and dancing and posture – it makes you stand really tall…
The Bar Method routine is designed to craft a sleek, toned, dancer-like physique while burning calories. It includes elements of yoga, pilates, and isometric movement, inspired by ballet dance exercise. By combining strengthening with stretching, muscles are lengthened, strengthened and defined. Unlike other workouts, once the muscle is warmed, it is stretched immediately after. Thus this combination of exercises burns deep into muscle and fat tissue, shaping while strengthening, especially in problem areas like the thighs and hips. It’s also pretty intense, requiring close attention to balance, posture, and controlled movement while challenging your body’s stamina. You can definitely burn calories with this workout!
If you haven’t heard about the ballet bar method, then check out the following video. It contains excerpts from numerous news reports, including NBC and Fox, describing the program.
If you don’t live near a Bar Method Studio, you can still use this program at home by getting the Exercises on DVD:
