Author: Tanya Wilson – The FDA has been really cracking down lately when it comes to diet supplements. So far this year it has recalled 72 weight loss supplements for containing prescription drugs, pulled hydroxycut products from shelves, and now has just called for the seizure of 1.3 million dollars worth of dietary supplements distributed by LG Sciences LLC, of Brighton, Michigan.

These products include: Methly 1-D, Methyl 1-D XL, and Formadrol Extreme XL. They were primarily marketed to body-builders and men interested in fat burning, muscle gain, and boosting testosterone levels. The products were distributed via the internet, and on store shelves.

The reason for the recall was that these supplements contained unapproved ingredients that have not been adequately tested for safety, specifically:

1, 4, 6-androstatriene-3, 17-dione (also called ATD)
1, 4, 6-etioallocholandione
3, 6, 17-androstenetrione (also called 6-OXO)

No ill effects have been officially linked to the use of these supplements, and the recall was issued primarily for safety reasons.

As always, consult with your physician if you feel you have suffered any adverse effects related to the use of the recalled products.
