Active Computer Games Do Not Replace Playing Real Sports For Energy Expenditure
New generation active computer games stimulate greater energy expenditure than sedentary games, but are no substitute for playing real sports, according to a study in this week’s Christmas issue of the BMJ. Young people are currently recommended to take an hour of moderate to vigorous physical exercise each day, which should use at least three times as much energy as is used at rest. My name is Joanne Rinker. I am a diabetes coach and work for fit4D. There is one way you can burn more calories with a computer game and that is the dance game. That game actually gets you up and dancing. I have actually had some clients use this as thier exercise for 30 minutes a day and lose weight. You can do this with your kids and forget that it is exercise because it is so much fun. So, don’t discount all games :)
