Acai Berry Supplement Scam Exposed

in acai berry

I’ve noticed threads in weight loss forums where people are complaining about free trials for acai berry dieting supplements. They were accruing unexpected charges, after being baited into what was advertised as a no-cost trial. While still on their free trials, customers were being billed for subsequent/future shipments without their consent.

Important for its nutritional value, health and weight loss benefits, the acai berry fruit is important news. Yet, for the reasons above, this blog kept away from promoting that particular company’s claim.

If you ever considered trying the acai berry weight loss supplement or not, you need to watch the following ABC report.

Acai Scams March 27, 2009 at 1:25 pm

When purchasing products online people need to read the terms and conditions but often make assumptions about free offers. And why use a credit card with a big available balance for online purchases when there are pre paid cards.

Dee Wilson March 27, 2009 at 2:38 pm

This isn’t about people using debit or credit cards. This is about people getting cheated. Advertisers have flashing banners, screaming ads which all flat out declare “free”. Everybody knows what this word means except them.

When people sign up for the free sample of the acai berry weight loss supplement they should be able to try the product free as advertised and they should be able to purchase the product only if they choose to.

We recently got stung by the unethical practices of these type vendors. They promise a no-cost review and then immediately start billing the monthly fee and it is almost impossible to get them to stop. Even after disputing the charges on my credit card, it took another 3 months to get it finally stopped.

My wife no longer has ordering privileges.

thanks for sharing this. actually, i’ve seen lots of advertisements regarding this product. a lot of them has been spread over yahoo answers, but i mean for me i am not against their marketing schemes but on sharing to people how good and effective the product is does not make any sense and they’re just fooling a lot of innocent people.

Craig March 30, 2009 at 5:22 am

i don’t think they’ll do such to people or i mean unless if i really tried it though.. but you know what, for me, because there are lots of competitors and scammers nowadays so maybe they’ve been affected with those people who are also trying to ruin their name or brand. poor acai berry.

Nicola March 30, 2009 at 5:59 am

yes i agree with Dee Wilson, people are also the ones responsible for being cheated. they are obviously aware that if being advertised like that with lots of “free” promos, you should try it first before you could even begin giving them your personal infos and important credentials. let’s just at least be aware of what’s not and what’s ok.

acai is a fruit from brazil right? i wonder if you can import this fruit for personal diet lol

I don’t believe in trying anything for free, because you know it is never free. If you are going to try something free and it askes for a credit card number, then you should not do it, because the card will be charged.

I was just about to order this. When I checked online to check the reviews. Sure glad I did. I work hard for the money I earn. I’ll try hoodia.

I fell for the Acai Berry scam of free trail. This is the first time i ever fell for a scam. I live in Australia and used my credit card. Even before i got the supplement i started seeing that my credit card was beging charged. When i called them these people tell me that say that i will have to pay for the months supply sent to me. i have still havent got my sample as they tell but i have already been charged $150.00 already.
These people are such cheats.

I tried the acai berry diet the free trial, well so they said they took the money out of my account without my consent, not once or twice but three times, after I canceled it. I ended up having to close my account out and open a new one.

i orderd a freetrial of Acai products avertised o n hi5 and i’ve just found that I’ve GOT CHEATED!!!

They said it’s NZD$69 each but they charged me 0ver NZD$ 160+ each !!!

I’ve canceled my order account– otherwise i’ll be continuely charged monthly — and been asking to get my excess money back, but no answer from them.

I’ve got CHEATED!

Jake February 24, 2010 at 4:41 pm

Anyone who falls for some online diet scam is a moron and deserves what they had comin to them.

Mikee February 28, 2010 at 10:58 am

Giving free samples is a great way to market a product. The consumer tries the product and if it works as described, they then purchase more. When a company, and there are plenty of them now a days, resorts to automatically charging your credit card I would expect the reason is almost all consumers would not reorder after the free sample. 99% of those companies that operate by automatically charging your credit are a 100% scam.

Nadia April 28, 2010 at 4:34 pm

SCAM! The effect of taking this product is zero. You will experience all kinds of problems while trying to cancel.

Best advise if you already ordered the free trial – tell your bank that you lost your credit card, cancel the shipments and write down the cancelation number, check your account every day to see if thay charged it anyway – yes, after stoping my credit card they still charged me – 20 days later for russhed shipment!?

BEWARE SCAMMER ALERT!
Someone needs to nail those Acai/Colon cleanse scammer guys to the wall! I got scammed, stupid me I believing what I read on the internet about both of those supplements. Here is my experience; I saw the add thought it was really from news 6 http://news6health.com/ I know that was so stupid! Ordered the two bottles. Luckily I printed the order confirmation page. Then I did my research (yeah I know A$$ backwards) and came across this site explaining the scam. I had seen that they had authorized the two $5 charges to my card last week but had not actually posted them to my account. I tried calling the customer service numbers on the news6 site and they kept changing from one “different?” supplement company to another with different mailing addresses. As I opened one and called and they denied they where the company. Funny thing they had a similar supplement offering for a “trial time” then they would keep sending you new bottles every month, $10, $20, $60, $90 each. The scammers just don’t give up! Finally I found the customer service number at the bottom of the order confirmation page that I had printed when I ordered. I called it and spoke with Amanda #GS050 she confirmed I had ordered the bottles from them and it was within the 14 day trial period. Customer # 877-529-3745. Then the fun really began. She tried several times to get me to keep the product even went down to $10 per bottle per month. How nice she was to offer me those discounted deals in her broken English accent. She even made me listen to a recording basically begging me to keep the subscription. But I had enough of the games and firmly requested that I wanted to cancel the supplement subscription!!! I also informed her (on the advice of my lawyer) I was recording the call (which I was actually doing on my ipod). Don’t think I will need it but it was fun to listen to her get nervous. And get this, Amanda then said I would need to mail the empty bottles to 7102 West Roosevelt Street, #100 Phoenix AZ 85042. If I did not mail them I would be charged $70, oops she then stuttered and changed it to $90 charge for each bottle. I couldn’t believe the audacity of these people. She didn’t want to give me the company website for “security reasons”. After, I got off the phone I received a confirmation email with the RMA numbers and address to ship to. You can rest assured I will mail them back their bottles of useless supplement. Maybe I will put something fun inside the bottle for them to enjoy. So I then went through the hassle of cancelling my debit card. Yes I was dumb enough to use my actual bank account debit credit card. I was really gullible and almost deserved to get taken. Don’t be fooled, they are scammers. I am grateful you put up this website to warn everyone. I just wish I had read this site earlier and saved me all the hassles! THANK YOU so much!

I have been scammed too. I was stupid and ordered both the acai berry and the colan cleanse which i have recieved and shipped back empty bottle and received a nice email to say i will not be charged for any future shippment. Have not received the acai berry yet and there is no email address to email to cancel, and as i am in Australia, I can’t seem to reach them on the phone even with the international code in front of their number. they also have an authorization pledge on my bank card to take out $109. I have closed my account but it takes 10 days to fully close it and bank teller cant give me the money. The only email address is a donotreply one
